Comptroller Gambo Applauds CGC, Adeniyi During ICD Celebration

Comptroller Aliyu Gambo, of Federal Operating Unit, Zone A has congratulated Comptroller-General of Customs,  Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on the colourful celebration of International Customs Day (ICD) 2026.

 

Gambo applauded Adeniyi’s leadership, recounting that his position as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council has improved Nigeria’s global standing.

 

The ICD 2026 celebration emphasised the Nigeria Customs Service’s strategic importance in national development, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, and security.

 

The Service’s 2025 revenue attainment of over ₦7.2 trillion surpassed its annual target, showcasing disciplined enforcement and improved compliance.

 

Gambo also commended the launch of the Time Release Study (TRS), a WCO tool aimed at improving cargo clearance efficiency, predictability, and transparency.

 

The TRS introduction is expected to strengthen trade facilitation, curtail dwell time, and stimulate investor confidence.
