The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Bauchi State Command says no fewer than 50 people have lost their lives in road traffic crashes across the state within the last three months.

Mr Apaji Boyi, the state Sector Commander of the corps, disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Boyi said that the crashes which occurred in October, November and December 2025, left 468 people injured and 193 others unscathed.

He also said that there were 76 reported cases of auto crashes within the period under review.

”In October 2025, we had 10 reported cases of road traffic crashes involving 77 people, with 58 persons seriously injured, while eight of the victims lost their lives.”

“In November, we had 25 reported cases of auto crashes with 201 people involved. Out of the figure, 14 people died, while 144 others were injured.”

”Then in December, 28 people lost their lives in 41 reported cases of road traffic crashes involving 433 persons, with 266 persons reported seriously injured,” he said.

The sector commander explained that some of the major causes of the crashes were speeding, wrongful overtaking, driver fatigue, overloading of persons, conveyance of persons in haulage vehicles and travelling with fuel in plastic containers.

He said these infringements include failure to adhere to road traffic rules and regulations, speed limit violations, intake of drugs, seat belt violations, and use of phones while driving, among others.

He acknowledged that the Federal Government’s support had been responsible for the modest achievement of the FRSC over the years and appreciated the government for its advisory oversight.

Boyi urged motorists to be cautious and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations, avoid overloading, speeding, wrongful overtaking and the use of cell phones while driving.

He also urged drivers to ensure their vehicles were in good condition before embarking on journeys.

The FRSC boss further reassured that the corps would not relent in its responsibility of sensitising motorists in the state about traffic rules, signs and regulations.
